The Master of Fine Arts Degree in Theatre Arts at Virginia Tech

Application to the University -
Those seeking admission must submit the following to the Virginia Tech Graduate School (www.grads.vt.edu):

1. A completed, signed application to the Graduate School
2. Official transcripts of all college-level work
3. Three letters of recommendation

Graduate admission tests (GRE, etc.) are not required.


At the Department Level -
Interested candidates are encouraged to contact the director of the program area of interest to discuss the program before applying. Contact information is available under "Further Information" on the right menu.

In general, each applicant should forward the following to the director of your program area of interest:

1.     Cover letter,
2.     Statement of personal philosophy of theatre and career goals,
3.     Resume. 

E-mail submissions are encouraged.

In addition, each area may have additional requirements, and an on-campus interview and visit is strongly encouraged. We believe it is important to see the program and meet other students and faculty firsthand.

Successful candidates must exhibit an appropriate level of experience indicating the desire and ability to complete the degree requirements and to thrive in a self-directed environment.
