The Virginia Tech School of the Arts and Department of Theatre Arts present
Made In Taiwan, Written and Performed by Michelle Krusiec

The Theatre Arts Department in the School of the Arts presents Made in Taiwan, a guest performance by Virginia Tech alumnus Michelle Krusiec. The presentation is sponsored in part by the Women and Minority Artists and Scholars Lecture Series and is slated for two nights only, December 5th and 6th, in Squires Studio Theatre at 8p.m.

Michelle Krusiec, who first wrote this one-woman show while a theatre student at Virginia Tech, returns to campus for this special performance. Made in Taiwan is a darkly comedic survival story and coming-of-age tale of a young soul-searching Asian American daughter with an Old World mother hell-bent on teaching her the ways of the world. This soul-searching journey drives her through experiences with sex, dating, adultery, biting and noodles.

Krusiec's performance of her work at the this year's HBO Aspen/U.S. Comedy Arts Festival was praised by Variety Magazine and the Hollywood Reporter as a festival favorite. She was recognized by Hollywood Reporter as one of the top ten rising performers at the festival. L.A. Weekly described Made in Taiwan as "a humorous, at times jarring, exploration of a young Chinese-American woman’s experiences with sex, dating, and her controlling, insensitive mother." Working in conjunction with Creative Artists Agency, Krusiec is now seeking to stage the show in New York, as well as pursuing film and television versions of this distinctive story.

Since graduating from Tech, Krusiec has hosted "Travelers" for the Discovery Channel, performed as a series regular on NBC’s "One World", and held many roles on shows such as "Providence," "Popular," "Titus," and "E.R." She is currently playing the role of "Sachiko" on HBO’s "The Mind of the Married Man." She also co-stars opposite Reese Witherspoon in Sweet Home Alabama and Christina Ricci in Pumpkin.
