Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, and other ancient allegorical figures are juxtaposed with a modern-day family against a epochal Ice Age, Noah's flood, war, book burning, and more. Wilder's unconventional drama, a fun and complicated spectacle written in 1942, reveals the cyclical nature of human existence and man's unwavering resilience to survive and build new worlds over and over again. OUR TOWN by Thornton Wilder

One of the most produced plays in the 20 th -century canon, Our Town resonates through time with its simple expression of quintessentially American values - practical and useful, lovely in our ordinariness, yet ever dreaming and swept along by a sense of the eternal everywhere in our midst. Combining expressive movement with a rich landscape of music and imagery, this final production of our celebration season is directed by guest artist and VT theatre alum Andrew Belser.
